Uranus!
Okay how many giggled a little when they read the title ;-)
No.9 is Uranus, the most laughed at planet in the solar system. Also here you can see some more shots, plus a number of the orginal Kirkhill Pillar, which are situated in Almondell and Calderwood Country Park, which is what this art project sprang from. The four sides are marked with calculations and drawings, which can be made out in the pictures. The big blue planet was actually discovered four years after the Kirkhill Pillar was built. It was also the first planet discovered using a telescope.
I know that some people still aren't clear what this series is about. So, here is another explanation:
The Kirkhill Pillar Project - the scale model solar system built by the Earl of Buchan in 1776/7. These set of sculptures are representations of the planets, laid out at appropriate points expanding out (in scale) from Broxburn Academy.
