Aleppo

I reckon I've blipped this tree before - but this is likely the last time you'll see it in once piece.  It was planted in 1887, and given that these trees live on average 100 years, it's well past its usual lifespan.

Sadly it will be coming down within the next weeks - it's dying and already we have had a close call when a branch fell very close to a volunteer gardener.

The good news is that the Dept responsible will replace it with an advanced specimen of another species.  We don't know what we are going to get as yet.
