Hard Drive Time Machine
There are a lot of people “out of the business” at present, which I think is contributing to the quiet week.
The number of enquiries I am receiving from colleagues is very low, maybe the guidance and advice etc. that was delivered at an early stage is now starting to pay off?
The weather has been all over the shop, so I snapped this one of the acers in the bathtub as their colours suddenly seemed to be so vivid. The yarden looks lovely at present….well, one corner of it, anyway.
The Eldest turns 18 in a couple of weeks and as part of it, I thought I would dig out as many photos of her as possible, but this meant going right back to day one of her life and spanning two marriages. It was a little more difficult than I had perhaps allowed for at first, but I got through the emotional turmoil and have some good material.
Our senses are like time machines, we can hear a song or smell a familiar scent that instantly transports us back to a moment in time. Images are particularly powerful for that and a lot of the photos I saw today hurled me back through the years. There was some sadness to the exercise in reminders of just how good life had been at certain points, but also joy in being reminded of just how good life can be at certain points.
Particular joy was had in seeing The Eldest evolve from day one of her life as a tiny, already-inquisitive and slightly jaundiced baby who I had to hold in the sun, to the good-hearted, conscientious, dishwasher-fearing and sun-dodging young woman she has become.
