5 AM

Yesterday evening I received a call from my Dad's neighbour Estelle to say that his health had deteriorated quite a bit and he'd pushed his Lifeline button. An ambulance was sent and they decided to take him straight to A&E - I was to meet them up there, which I did.

His heart rate was very low and resistant to everything they did to try to bring it back up. They took him on to the Cardiac ward at about 4 AM, and I stayed to get him settled and booked in, leaving at around 5 AM this morning. 

It's only a 10 minute walk so I didn't disturb Brian to ask to be picked up. I took a few photos on my phone on the way back, not knowing what other opportunity I'd have today. I seem to post more phone photos than proper camera ones these days. The building with the windows is the school Grace went to, but there are no kids there at 5 AM of course!

Ward rounds on the CCU are 9 -10 AM, so I called shortly after to find out how he was and they have decided he is to be fitted with a pacemaker today. I was told they would call me back once he was back on the ward. I've still not heard anything so I may give them a ring myself soon and see if I can find out what is happening.

I called my boss to say I may not be able to work tonight, and explained the situation. He was very pissed off with me and told me I had to work tonight or he'd have to shut the shop as he and Zeiyit are away in London. I said I could not guarantee that I'd be able to, but would if I could. This was not good enough though! He said I had to  guarantee I'd definitely work or not bother going back.

So I guess I'm sacked then!
