Sunset .....

On my way into Baddeck to pick up Sonja, a lovely young woman, from Italy, who will be with us for a week or so as a WWOOFER (willing workers on organic farms). This is our first one for this season, excluding Richard who is more of a summer resident! It's such an interesting thing, having these young people, from all over the world, come to stay with us. Sonja is only 20 and has already been wwoofing in other parts of the Maritimes, she'll be in Canada a total of 4 months. They seem so brave, arriving in strange places, being picked up by strangers and then living with them for an extended time. She was telling us that one of the previous hosts was very unfriendly, which was why she cut her stay with them short! it saddened me to think that someone could be so unfriendly towards such a lovely young woman who is far from her family! well she'll be treated very well here at Big Hill that's for sure! the garden is waiting patiently to be tended, but the weather just isn't cooperating!

It's been such a busy few days, lots of folks coming and going, way too much socializing for my comfort zone.....hopefully things will settle down now for a few weeks.
