After a visit to the bottle/glass bank in Avoch this morning, thought I'd have a look about the harbour area. This huge crane arrived just in front of me, for loading all the Winter shored boats back into the water for the Summer season. Met a former colleague there, waiting for his boat to be lifted in. Had a blether and took a few photos.
It's near enough forty years since I first photographed the end of season lifting out at North Berwick, in East Lothian. I was photographing/digitising those old film photos a few days after this back-Blip, and noted the difference in safety concerns back in 1983 - no hard hats or high visibility gear, and folk were often standing on the boats as they were lifted out of the water to the shore.
All being well, a few of those old film photos will be way-back-Blipped to t'other journal at some stage.
Couple of extras - lifting up; and lowering in (Jim's boat).
