In gaol
We are staying for two nights in the small coastal town of South West Rocks. One of its attractions is the ruins of the Trial Bay Gaol, which was built in the late 1800s to house prisoners building a breakwater nearby. The intention was to create a protected anchorage for coastal shipping. That project was abandoned, and later the buildings were used during World War I to house prisoners of war. It was abandoned soon after, and is now a preserved ruin. It’s in a very scenic location, shown in extras.
