Alloa Tower
Mr hazelh planned our grand day out in Clackmannanshire on Tuesday when he spotted the excellent weather forecast for today.
After coffee/tea and scones in Dollar, we jumped on our bikes and headed west along the (mostly) flat cycle paths to Alloa. Here we visited Alloa Tower (blipped) to learn all about the structure's construction, extension, destruction, and restoration - plus the perennial problem of errant sons and their tastes for drugs, gambling, and womanising.
It was very warm on our return loop to Dollar. I was therefore relieved that I chose shorts over longs when I dressed this morning. For our (late) lunch break we sunbathed on a bench on Bridge Street while munching on delicious ham and cheese rolls from the Dollar Deli.
On our way home we popped into Sterling Mills outlet village (unimpressed), and picked up Véronique's carpet cleaner for one of tomorrow's tasks.
This evening we watched the Eurovision Song Contest as far as Finland's entry. I have to say that I found the opening segment of the show very moving. There's something very stirring about Stefania. The incorporation of classical musicians into the play of this version amplified the emotional pull of the song.
Exercise today: 21 mile gentle cycle ride.
