I guess I'm assuming that if junk has made it to a scrap metal merchant, it has a much better chance of being part of the circular economy.
Of course, the other way of looking at it is that there's so much extra detritus on most of the junk - mostly moulded plastic and electronics - that I'm now wondering if this is the pile of rejected scrap metal at the back of the yard. The stuff that's too complicated (or worthless) to pull apart. Destined for landfill...
