Old Mill Machinery
We had a trip out to Sunnybank Mills in Farsley, Leeds today - Mrs madwill wanted to visit a textile festival there. I tagged along for the ride …sadly nothing of textile interest for me there.
We did take the opportunity for a guided tour of some of the historical parts of the mill - not normally open to the public. It was quite an interesting talk. Dotted around the site are various mill artefacts…mostly rusty..including this old bit of machinery which is rusting away quietly.
One for Derelict Sunday…
In one of the old workshops there was a box of old tools - again very rusty (see extra).
The mill was producing cloth right up until 2008…which surprised us. They are trying to regenerate the life of the mill by creating spaces for businesses to rent. An artist friend of ours has a studio there .. so we popped in to see her - and Mrs madwill did make a purchase.
Parts of the mill have been used for filming - Emmerdale was recorded there for a few years and the later series of The Great British Sewing Bee have been recorded there.
