The first Poppy to bloom

There are many buds on the plant but this is the first to bloom. It was almost smothered by the many rather hairy leaves so space had to be created to allow the light and my camera some access to he flower.

A dull rather chilly start to the day ..... a real contrast to yesterday but now as late afternoon turns to early evening we have blue skies and sunshine.
