Off-shore Dabchick
Called at Western Springs Lake on my way home after work. It had been a sunny warm day, and there was still plenty of light when I arrived.
The little Weweia was swimming and occasionally diving in a bay on the southern side of the lake. It was by itself suggesting that either its mate is on a nest or the eels in the lake have left this one bereft.
Even with the maximum zoom of the lens, it was very small in the photo, so I enlarged it considerably. Fortunately my focus was able to handle that.
I like these little birds.
