Boxed In

I spent the morning working from home, for some quiet space, on several presentations I am doing next week - it's going to be busy.

I then went to work and was faced with a newspaper article extolling the virtues of a new web site, of the client that left us this week. Development cost of $300 000, although I hear it was closer to $500, awarded to a company in the North Island "who did a great engineering job". I freakin hope they did for that price, We had the superior technical solution at a fraction of the price, but clearly didn't suck up enough, it's not our way.

The article went on to say how it would benefit the local economy with the boost in tourism, Funny they didn't think that they just let a few jobs go, and with one arm of the council promoting IT, they have effectively helped cut jobs in our area. Oh well, the ratepayers will pay, the politicians keep their job and we need to either learn how to "suck up" or else just keep toiling away.

Personally I don't like the w*nky sucky thing We'll keep doing a great job, and hope that next time someone so shallow and vain isn't making the decision, and instead bases it on sounds financials and a solution oriented approach.

Yep, we feel boxed in. But preparing to break out.

Rant end ;-)
