CHRIS (or BACCHUS to us)
Onny & I were trying to select a champagne, with insufficient a volume of viticultural knowledge between us, as to half-fill the base of a Jeroboam.
We spied a man with the air of an oenologist about him.
'If you like, I can explain the differences between the types of Champagne' he beamed.
We put our shopping bags down. (The ones with green writing on them)
Chris explained that a Blanc de Blanc variety was made from all white grapes, whereas the Blanc de Noir ('white from black') was a blend of white (Chardonnay) and Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes and a less bold, slightly softer taste.
This took our fancy.
Thank you Chris for informing & entertaining us with a ..yes, sparkling delivery Your selection was delicious.
We'll go for a Jeroboam next time.
