A great day out

Met W for lunch at Bywards in The City. She had found out about Beating the Bounds of All Hallows parish. It is an ancient custom still observed by many English parishes where they reaffirm their boundaries. The Beating Party for All Hallows consists of students, clergy and the Masters of their associated Livery Companies. The south boundary of the parish is in the middle of the Thames and we duly followed the Party down the gangway at Tower Pier and watched them board a boat along with the Lord Mayor of London and his wife. They moved into the middle of the river and the students Beat the Boundary. Fascinating. I've included a link below that explains more.

We then travelled to the Royal Albert Hall and had an enjoyable evening watching Mike and The Mechanics. Phil Collins son - Nick - was the drummer on this tour. He was really good.
