Cathedral doorway

Took a day trip to Winchester today. The sun was out, the people were out sunning themselves in the cathedral grounds, the buskers were out busking and the ice cream vendors were out plying their trade. Everyone was having a good time.
I've always loved the intricate stonework on churches so this shot appealed to me.

We were somewhat disappointed to find that this cathedral charged admission. Over the last year we have toured round many of the cathedrals of the south of England and none of them have charged. We are more than happy to make a donation but just dont like being told how much to pay! I appreciate that the cost of upkeep must be immense and charging an admission price takes the guesswork out of predicting income.
