First roses

This rose, “Golden Showers”, is usually the first to come into flower and it is always a pleasure to see it. Competing for first place this year is “Golden Wedding” (extra). This was a gift more than ten years ago. I suppose it has been superseded by a gift last year called “Diamond Wedding,” but that is not flowering yet.
It has been a lovely day for gardening, warm with no breeze, I repotted the latest gift rose called “Many Happy Returns”. I put out more of the little plants I bought on Tuesday and I am looking forward to the colour they will provide in the summer. Dead heading bluebells continues.
