White Lilac?

It has been growing in a wild bit of garden for a few years now and I thought it was going to be a cherry as out cherry tree is quite close by. But this year it has these flowers,  My son in law thinks it is lilac. We did have a lilac bush but it was very poorly so we dug it up years ago, as it never had a flower .
