a morning moon...

...i wasn't expecting

i'd gone to get the sunrise - you see... i couldn't sleep - insomnia is a wretched thing - i know i'm not the only one who suffers from it - i sympathize with all who do - because of it - i sleep very little and am up at all hours of the day and night - so i figured i'd wander outside to see what the sun was up to... get it? okay - i know that was truly bad - boo!

to my delight - sunrays were beginning to pour through massive clouds - making streaks against the sky - not in huge radiant colors this time - so i was unsure of how exactly to capture what i was seeing - i fiddled around - then turned, looking up - to behold this giant orb of a moon - glowing in the pre-dawn sky - just hanging there - with a greenish-blue background setting off its whiteness... and the sun's rays barely reflecting against the surface of the moon itself! did i dare to attempt to capture such a thing of beauty? of course - i'm no idiot... the thing is - where are my skills with the camera in hand - more fiddling - some faddling, too...

and this is what i have to offer - is it the best? of course not - there are many who could do ooh so much better - get better detailing - crisper effect - however - for what i have - how far i've come in my little photographic life - i'm very pleased - i dare say i almost gasped upon the upload that i could almost see the outlining on the surface - a morning moon, who knew? that is so much progress - more than i could have accomplished a year ago - and i restrained myself from the edit, too - this is almost totally straight from the camera - although i admit to a touch of lightening and some artistic cropping - i figure i'm entitled - it's all led to...
