Memorial Day 2013 Observed

Celebrated on the last Monday of May, Memorial Day honor those who have died in all American Wars. While local observances occurred since 1866, it was declared a national holiday in 1971. Previous to this it was known as Decoration Day.

The photo is of the flag I fly at my home. On Memorial Day, flags are flown at half-staff from sunrise until noon only, and then raised quickly to full-staff.
