Craigieburns
The southern end of the Craigieburn Range, which is much deeper into the Southern Alps than the Torlesse Range. Porters Skifield is in the basin to the left. In large you can see the roads.
The threatened storm arrived last night with wailing wind and a clickety-hiss of sleet. This morning there was a dusting of snow on the tops of the foothills, even on the slope where the moon set the other morning. The wind is bitterly cold. The Met Service said the wind chill factor was 5º. Since it was only 4º to start with, washing my car in preparation for Christchurch tomorrow was a painful job.
Sorry for no comments last night. My internet connection was on strike.
