Finding My Bearings

By JustJuli

Signs?

For weeks, my house has literally looked like a bomb went off in it, as we’ve recently had our roof repaired, new windows and doors fitted plus the central heating and shower room done. None of this had been touched for literally decades - certainly not in the twenty years we’ve lived here - and what wasn’t leaking was falling off. It doesn’t sound like it would make much mess but apparently every job needed access to every nook and cranny in the house, so every nook and cranny had to be emptied.

My dining room was in the living room, the kitchen was in the bathroom and what seemed like all the junk I’d stuffed in cupboards and wardrobes over the years was in our bedroom. And don’t even start me on our kids’ bedrooms - they’re always a disgrace!

It’s obviously a great incentive to have a good sort out, though. With some serious prep work last week plus a full-on assault today, it almost looks habitable… just don’t go in the garage!

While I was sorting through it all, I found ‘thank you’ cards from old students, some pencils I bought with inspirational messages on and, strangely, the amount I spent at the Co-op in my one foray outside today was my birth year - maybe someone’s trying to tell me something? And… I got an email from the headteacher asking me if I was OK, as she’d heard I was a bit upset yesterday. Oh dear!

Anyway, I hope you’re all enjoying the beautiful weather, what a gorgeous day!
