Flower Friday

I believe this is an Alium, or decorative onion. Deb planted these bulbs last year and the leaves came up in April, we thought they looked like tulips, but were surprised not to get any flowers. Deb was pretty happy that something had grown without our killing it. Then last week, the long stems finally burst into bloom. She's well pleased now, but slightly less so as in photographing these blooms (with my old Primotar), I brushed against another and snapped the head clean off the stem - I didn't realise how brittle they were.

Still testing positive, but pleased to have got as far as the back garden.
