Chelsea in Bloom
Every year, to coincide with the Chelsea Flower Show which starts tomorrow, there is a floral art show in Chelsea called Chelsea in Bloom. Participating shops/ cafes/restaurants decorate their doorways, and this year the theme was Flowers on Film. Gavin offered to drive me up to London to see the displays, so after breakfast we set off. It only took about 40 minutes to get to Chelsea and we found parking in the street quite easily. Many displays were still being assembled, and we were a little early to see the finished results, but here is a selection of some of them and the movie theme can be seen.
We then met Luke and Meriel for brunch at Tom Tom Café, obviously a very popular café in Belgravia as we had to queue for a while to get a table. I only had a coffee but the others said the breakfast was very good. We then walked all the way to Hyde Park, where Xena had a good run around, and then walked back to Chelsea where we had parked the car. The forecast was for a sunny day with temperatures of 20C but in fact it was windy and I was cold in my summer dress.
Luke and Meriel then hopped on 'Boris' bikes to get back to their home, and Gavin and I drove home again. We had a golf booking for 4pm, so we got changed and went off to the golf club. We only played 9 holes and my first 6 holes were absolutely awful. Some bad words were said in frustration, but it is a very challenging course with greens raised up that were lightning fast, so the ball was always rolling off. Lots of water and tight approaches to the green with bunkers all around.
It's now getting late and I still have to work on my stuff for the camera club AGM tomorrow, so I will catch up with journals tomorrow.
