The Mission!

The skies were dripping on us just a little as we gathered at FBC.  Not enough rain to get you really wet, just enough to make things feel and look a little messy.  But we were grateful for a dry safe place to come together to worship and praise God as a church body.  The morning was filled with songs that are personal favorites, beginning with a congregational lifting of our voices and spirits as we sang "Shout To The Lord".  After the welcome by Chris, the choir, orchestra, and our assorted talented accompanists (with my son back playing bass after his hip surgery) did a great version of "Glorious Name".  The congregation joined in again with a couple more songs and ended with a song that is really my testimony, "The Goodness Of God".  Because Pastor Wes is finishing up his vacation, we were blessed to hear a sermon by our Minister To Students, Matt Downing who spoke to us about the mission God has for us as His children and representatives in this world.  As you can see from the outline in the collage, he told us that God's mission here on earth is bigger than us, for all of us to participate in as believers, and that the mission field is everywhere, but it begins right here for each of us wherever and whoever we are.  He backed it all up with scripture and details which you can see and hear in the Live-stream.  He mentioned the youth mission trip to Guatemala and our Sports Camp as examples of what we can do in our world to help accomplish the mission of bringing people into a right relationship with Him.  He finished his message with the verses that remind us that we are to reach out into all the world with the good news of Jesus and that Jesus has promised that He will be with us as we go about doing our part of the mission!.....
