The day

This date has been in my mind for a few months and now it’s over.

The times before and after the race, with all the others, were precious and will hopefully be repeated another day. They are the best ever supporters.

The race itself was hard work. The others taking part in the 5k open water swim were in a different league to us and raced away quickly. Em and I knew we had a cut off time so just kept swimming, without a break and more-or-less keeping to our normal pace. I had naively thought I would enjoy it. But it was more endurance than enjoyment.

Lovely setting though. Water was a good temperature; full of weeds though :-)) And we did it :-)

This Castle Race Series weekend had all sorts of categories for serious athletes going on all around us. It shouldn’t have surprised me that the other swimmers would be so fast.

So afterwards, we had a leisurely drink before catching a train to Paris, a very welcome 5 Guys supper and a relaxing Eurostar journey back. The French side is much more efficient than our side!!
