World tapas
After a really successful move by ambulance from interim to permanent care home and Dad happily installed, my mum, sister and I repaired to a local restaurant tonight to breathe in a great sigh of relief and sample some truly delicious dishes.
On the tapas menu tonight, chips in truffle salt and parmesan, pork spare ribs with apple coleslaw, Thai mussels with chilli and garlic, teriyaki chicken and salmon tartare. Washed down, on my part at least, by an Australian and then a New Zealand glass of semillon/sauvignon blanc known here as an SSB. For pudding glassroad and I capitulated to a milk and honey pannacotta with a Moroccan poached pear topped with pashmac (sort of Moroccan candy floss). This was all served by the delightful Gemma, a young woman from Cheltenham in England, who's been working for various charities in Australia for the last 18 months which means, apparently, that she's now allowed to stay.
Good for her.
Lucky us.
