Day 1 Seville to El Real de la Jara

Day 1 of the Ruta Via de la Plata. We left Seville after a slow start, enjoying a delicious breakfast then packed our stuff and made the slow journey through the city. We passed the huge Plaza de Toros. A very impressive building. Then 54 hilly miles to the sleepy little hill town of El Real de la Jara. We stopped after 30 miles to picnic with groceries from a small shop. Mostly up hill all day through pretty countryside known as dehesa with shrubby trees and livestock, cows, sheep and goats some wearing mountain bells. A few rain showers. Both feeling pretty knackered after a full day's climbing of 4400 feet. Where we are staying is mostly closed. No where for dinner so a picnic supper, then a walk up the hill to the castle.
