Lugnaquilla
Today we compleated the Furths, the 3000 foot hills outwith Scotland on Lugnaquilla in the Wicklow Hills. The day started with haar but by the time we set off at lunchtime it was clear and quite warm. We parked at the head of the glen at the Baravore carpark and then went up the Fraughan Rock Glen path to the hill. The zig zags path is closed after some dipstick with a dog assaulted the farmer who owns the land. Apparently the dog wasn’t on a lead and that was one of the access conditions; the thoughtless actions of one person means the rest of us can’t go that way anymore. The ‘summit’ has a trig point and large cairn and is I suspect where most people end up. Sadly for them the highest point is 100 metres west and this is where the blip was taken from looking at a random cairn; Mount Leinster is the hill in the background. The extra is Art’s Lough on our way down. As it was a nice night we ate at the pub (Glenmalure Lodge) in the evening sun.
Best on black.
Today’s entry on the Abstract Fiesta journal is wet Granite.
