Commoners
Estimates vary from 267 million to 1.7 billion house finches across North America. We've certainly got our fair share and they make nests around the house, which slightly concerns me. They like hanging baskets and outdoor speakers and frequent the feeders.
But trying to photograph them in more natural settings is a challenge, especially now the trees are in full leaf. I saw the female first and followed her deeper into the foliage where I discovered the male. Great to get a shot of the two of them together.
