The Woodland Garden (Saturday 20th May 2023)

Diary blip. A few years ago chaffinches, goldfinches and sometimes greenfinches were everyday sights on my bird feeders, but none are common visitors now. Greenfinches across the country's gardens have been particularly hard hit by avian flu, it seems, so I was especially pleased to see this male one on Saturday, the first in more than a year I think.

This was taken through the kitchen door glass, with a double-glazed window at the far side of the porch, so after some tweaking this was the best I could do.

The Australian drama-comedy Bump reached its third series last December and began airing here on Friday night. Their theme tune is this song by girl band Dream Wife, named from the Cary Grant film. They formed while students in Brighton but are now based in London.
