The Throwaway Society

Replaced some under cabinet light fittings and took the old units to the local Household Waste Recycling Centre. This is the Electrical Items disposal skip. The skip is enormous (something like 18ft long x 8ft high x 6ft wide) and was almost full of all kinds of electrical bits - computers, scanners, microwaves, vacuum cleaners etc. etc.
It brought home to me just what 'built-in obsolescence' really is :-(
