Absolute world peace
The Cowra world peace bell is made from melted coins from 106 member countries of the United Nations. It is a replica of the bell at the UN headquarters. In New York. There are 22 such replica bells around the world, five in Japan. Cowra was awarded the bell for its contribution to peace and reconciliation and to relations with Japan. It is the only bell which is not located in a city. Japanese characters Inscribed on the bell say ‘long live absolute world peace’. If only.
Today we left the beautiful central west country and headed for Canberra. The car had picked up a lot of red dust on country roads so our first stop was a car wash (extra).
