Pieris and Aqualegia

Not the title of one of Shakespeare's lesser-known later works, but my latest Emergency Wet Flower blip. Don't think it's stopped raining all day and, apart from nipping down to the outdoor pool for a few lengths at lunchtime (where at least the water was hot), I didn't stray far from the desk in the study with my nose in a further selection of GCSE English Language essays.

I've always enjoyed Steinbeck - and there were some very impressive essays - but there's only so many analyses of George and Lennie's relationship you can read before you begin wishing (SPOILER ALERT!) that George had borrowed Carlson's gun a little earlier in the novel!
