diorama
we went to see Charles at his shop in Wool - Retrospection - we've not been able to visit for a while.
i couldn't resist the pull of childhood memories of making seashore inspired resin miniature bits & bobs. naturally, these days nobody would use sea horses or starfish, but i'm blipping this so these beautiful creatures will remind us to do better.
i'm naming them Iππόκαμπος the Seahorse ('campus for short, obvs) & Starry McStarfish. they will rest in peace here and not be forgotten.
my surprise purchase was 3 boxes of magic lantern slides - which are fascinating - i have to hold them to the light and use a magnifying glass to read any text thereon. dating from 1902. i may have to create a separate blip journal to share these....they are geographical, diagrams, and apparently the best ones were picked out and purchased separately, but i can see a lot that are interesting and i may add a haiku with each i post.
i now have an 'incase' wheelchair, and an 'incase' shower chair -i'm not planning on using any of them, but like to be prepared, just 'incase'.
p.s.
i was delighted to hear from the niece of Wally Dorey's Janet this evening.
Wally ran the local shop for most of my childhood. we got sherbet fountains and watched him slice bacon wafer thin. he delivered. and he remembered us in his memoirs. i was so pleased that he did.
