Which way to go?
What a day!
It’s my daughter’s 20th birthday today and she and her boyfriend arrived yesterday evening for a weekend of fun and food - so lovely to have her home.
My last day work today wasn’t as upsetting as I was expecting. As well as the geography vacancy at this school, another wonderful school in the same town is looking for both a science and a geography teacher - both of which I am perfectly qualified for - so I shall be spending the next couple of days filling in applications. Funny enough, one of my colleagues knows someone in the geography department at this second school and is going to find out exactly what they’re looking for… and hopefully put in a good word for me.
I also saw an incredible teacher I was good friends with at a previous school, who was there for an interview. He was obviously doing well as he was in the final two and the assistant head he was with was very surprised when he grabbed my hands and said how thrilled he was to see me, as I also was to see him. It’s always such a shame to lose touch with people when you move on to another school but it’s such a small world, you’re bound to bump into many again. I hope he got the job.
I got cards and emails from both staff and students and, all in all, I left at least feeling that I really will be missed. My picture is of a little lane I drive up every day on my way to work. It may have been the last time I’ll be doing that for a while - if ever - but it was the junction that struck me. I’d never really noticed it before but it did seem a bit symbolic of my current dilemma - which direction should I take?
