It's a dangerous world..

for little chicks down at Boxers lake.  I had been told that there were tortoise  in the lake and saw two quite big ones myself yesterday which turned out to be  turtles. These  have undoubtedly been put in the lake by people who had them as pets, tired of them and dumped them.  One of them looks as if it has been in the wars and has a split shell.
Little chicks would make a nice meal for turtles in the wild - herons like to eat them also.

PS  there seems to be some contention as to whether they are tortoise or turtles. I await advice from Swale Cottage who has pet Timmy.
