What a day - of rain. A trip down to Taunton wasn't too bad. Good day out with the girls doing a bit of essential shopping, which is normally a chore, but we had made plans to call in at the REAL cornish pasty shop so not too bad at all. Most things on the list were ticked off. Apart from school shoes for eldest who is in year 6 doesn't want to be in the Clarks junior range but also doesn't like dolly shoes, so what is left when you have size 7 feet? not a lot really. She would be much happier if plain balck trainers were allowed but that isn't going to happen, so the search for the shoes continued. She did make me laugh when I told her although I agreed that we hadn't possibly found that many to choose from I wished she wasn't quite so pernickerty. She replied by saying she was sure she was - if she knew what it meant!!

On the way back along the motorway in the horrendous rain, did everyone have their lights on??? No of course they didn't, idiots the lot of them, we were travelling along the route of the horrendous firework evening crash, and has anything been learnt from that, no of course not. Reduce your speed as the levels of visibility dictates, and, as today, especially with the spray created by all the traffic hurtling along being worse than fog - put your lights on to help yourself be seen. The girls had said that I should be banned from driving in bad weather as I get sooooo cross with the other drivers on the road. But I told them if that just makes them think more when they eventually learn to drive and they find themselves in bad weather, it's worth it.
