The old and the new

Following Sunday night's blip of the new Old Loans Inn, someone in the village sent us a photo they took back in June 2000 from the other angle. So, we have put it together with one taken today from approximately the same position. It's interesting to compare the old and new buildings. You can see the similarity in the façade and roof line, although the dormers in the new building are perhaps a bit on the hefty side. As with any new development, there was apprehension about what it would look like. But by now it seems to have settled in and been accepted, though quite a few mourn the loss of the old public bar! However, from the point of view of most customers, the interior and functionality of the new hotel and restaurant are certainly a dramatic improvement.
