”Fixed”

Not a derelict, but an actual rolling train. I’d imagine this unit is scheduled for renovation very soon, given this state of repair… but still.

In a sense, this was almost an omen to a decidedly not boring trip: stuck behind freight trains; unscheduled stops first to leave an unscheduled passenger, then to check for damage after an animal collision; and finally passing the smoldering remains of a fire where all trains were halted for several hours while we started our journey.

In the end, we rolled in 17 minutes behind schedule. Seventeen minutes. Could have been a lot more.
