Reading at. Hay Festival

Good to see so many people reading real books in the sunshine and not one electronic device in sight.

I met up with lots of family members , some of whom I had not seen for years. So we had a lot of catching up to do in between events.
 
The one event that stands out in my mind today was the Michael Parkinson interview.
 
You could almost hear a gasp go up from the audience when this legendary tv chat show host, now 88 years of age, walked on stage. He looked so old, and frail with breathing difficulties. (He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2013).
 
He was interviewed by his son, Mike, who gave a resume of his father’s life aided by some of his most famous television clips. And you caught glimpses of the old Parky still there with his lively turn of phrase and humour.
 
 But is this how we want to remember him?
