Bumblebee Glee
The poor spring in the west of Scotland has meant that there are far fewer buzzy things flying around my garden that usual. However, when the sun does come out, so do the insects, anxious to make up for lost time. You can sense the sheer glee in this small bumblebee as it pounces - tongue extended in readiness - on an apple blossom in its belated quest for nectar, and to do its essential job of accidentally pollinating my fruit trees. I used my Nikon D300s and a 60mm macro lens.
