Finally an allotment day
After a tough week and getting very behind with my blips, I took myself off for some time on the allotment. I had some more baby tomato plants to pot on and I have also collected all the chillis from home. The survival rate has not been good over winter this year, so I'm restocking with some individual plants when I find interesting varieties.
After mowing in and out of the plot, I rediscovered (and weeded) the gladioli bed and it was good to see that some have survived that last winter. I have a few new bulbs that I can use to fill any gaps next month.
Meanwhile the clematis on the shed is romping away and has started flowering. I rearranged some of the stems and weeded its pot only to discover it is growing potatoes again!! I'm leaving them this time to see what happens. The other potatoes that I planted are also growing away, apart from the Acoustic that I was given by a neighbour. They have still to show. I still have some seed potatoes left in the shed, so I'm going to put those in pots to see what happens to them.
One border is still in need of attention to get it ready for beans and other veg and the grass has grown high in my absence, so I have cut the grass down with my little sickle and just left it where it fell to suppress further growth until I can get to clear it. Not quite the approved chop and drop technique, but it has worked previously for me.
