Eilean Fhianain, Loch Shiel
Little seems to be known of the early history of the island, which may have been the site of St Finan's cell in the 7th century. The island was the burying place of the Clan Ranalds until the end of the C16. St Finan's Chapel, dating from around 1500, is now just low walls and an altar stone.
There are many graves, ancient and more recent scattered amongst the bluebells, broom, gorse and trees. A peaceful resting place for protestants and catholics from the nearby communities of Sunart and Moidart, respectively. The carved and weathered cruciform stones are probably C18, though they look ancient.
