Sun on the Tyne...
The other Tyne that is, not the one Lindisfarne sang about.
We've had a lovely day here today, temperature in the low 20's. Marian is up from Hampshire so we went and picked her up and headed into East Lothian. Our first stop was Smeaton for refreshments. Sadly their garden eating area is not available at the moment and, because it is a bank holiday today for other parts of the world, it was rather busy.
We headed for Haddington instead and were lucky enough to grab a riverside table at the Waterside Bistro for a quick lunch - soup for me of course! My collage shows: the Bistro from the Nungate Bridge over the Tyne; the Nungate Bridge from the Bistro and the view from the bridge towards St Mary's Church.
We had a wander through the town. Not all was open, but I picked up a couple of bargains in the Oxfam and Cancer Research shops. After that it was back into the car in search of ice cream. The queue at Lucas in Musselburgh was daunting, however we managed to get a table inside instead and had some rather nice Sundaes. I made the mistake of having a chocolate and nut parfait. The chopped nuts were a mistake, I'll remember next time.
My extra shows the other two's choices - M had a hot chocolate fudge sundae, not pointing any fingers, but 4 scoops of icecream!!! Colin had a much more restrained banana split within only 3.
We had a great day out, nice to catch up and East Lothian was looking at its best in the sunshine.
