Doric, the dialect spoken in the North-East of Scotland is rich in words and phrases associated with the land and the sea.
CHAUMER. A sleeping chamber for itinerant farm workers. The workers were generally fed in the farm kitchen and slept in the chaumers.
This chaumer is to be found at the Museum of Farming Life at Pitmedden Gardens.
