Blowing in the wind
A Great Egret with breeding plumage. The long feathers are called aigrettes, which they hold up during courtship displays. This bird is common for us to see here in SW Florida.
The Great Egret is the symbol of the National Audubon Society which uses the birds silhouette in it's logo. You can learn more and compare it with similar birds on the All About Birds website. We are lucky to be able to see all of those similar birds where we live.
