Ambleside

Lake District visitors know well that Ambleside, like Windermere town and Bowness, is a honeypot. Many hundreds of people come for the shops and cafes and never venture onto the surrounding fells and mountains.

Today in perfect weather we were among the first to arrive. Our shopping, Summer walking trousers and a cap for me and a Summer jacket for Mrs. K. was soon completed and a mocha was enjoyed. By this time the car park was full.

Very few of those day visitors know that less than five minutes walk from the car park this is the scene you can enjoy.

And then there is the pleasure of an easy drive home past a very long crawl of cars still coming to the honeypot.
