Life in a Northern Town

Huddersfield A - Z - John Smith's Stadium

Home of Huddersfield Town, the mighty Terriers.

Huddersfield Town was the first team to win 3 successive league titles, only 3 teams have equalled this (Liverpool, Arsenal and of course the current Champions, Man Utd). No team has ever won 4 in a row (until 2016 when The Reds will be claiming this record).

The Stadium was built in 1994 to replace the old Leeds Road ground - it has had various names over the years, so it answers to Leeds Road, the Town Ground, The Alfie Mac, The Galpharm and now the John Smith's Stadium. It won a Building of the Year award in 1995 from RIBA, and is actually shared with the Huddersfield Giants Rugby League team (but we don't talk about them).

I couldn't Blip it in order as "J" inconveniently fell on a Bank Holiday and the very kind receptionist who agreed to let me in was not there that day. Then yesterday it peed it down all day!

Hopefully back in alphabetical order from tomorrow (although I have now stuffed up my planned "O" so have to have a rethink on that).

A wonderful and nostalgic Town song for you.

PS I have a partly built fence and a boiler engineer on the way so all is good.
