Solar estate

I was out on the southern boundary of the city - on another glorious day - and spotted one of the newish estates with all their solar panels. Good to see.

We installed some solar panels 3 years ago on the roof but because we are in a conservation area we could not have them visible from the pavement opposite our house. So we had to have them installed much flatter than the optimum angle. And we couldn’t have them on the south facing street facing sloping roof. Something will have to change if we are serious about climate change.

Despite the low angle the sun has been so constant and so high in the sky that even by late afternoon we had generated. 95% of our electricity consumption that day to that point. makes a pleasant change from the 3% figure in mid-December!
